My solution ? It's time to go old-school & homemade up in these kinky coils.
I had my mom extract fresh, pure coconut milk from a couple small coconuts.
1.Break open and pour the coconut water into a blender.
2.Remove the white meat n chop it up as best as you can, then add to blender.
3. Blend on high until consistency is smooth n' creamy.
4. Use a colander to press the juices out of the pulp.
5.Repeat step 4 until remaining liquid is free of coconut debris n pulp.
And Voilá! Fresh coconut milk!
Anyways, after that is done, I set aside a moderate amount of the milk ( depends on the length & porosity of your hair ). Although I have short hair, it is very thick and dry so I needed a little bit more of it because of my texture. The goal is to have enough to completely saturate the hair.
Next, I added a tablespoon of pure, organic honey along with a tablespoon of my own personal oil mix (half extra virgin olive oil and the other half consists of equal parts of a medley of oils like macadamia nut and castor among a few).
I mixed those all together and heated the mixture up for about 20 secs in the microwave. ( In order to speed up the process.)
Finally, I transferred the mixture into a spray bottle for ease of use and saturated my hair from root to tip. I covered my hair with a shower cap for about 2 & 1/2 hours.
After that, rinsed it very well and added a small amount if argon oil to my hair n let it air dry. The results were pretty great and my hair was revitalized and moisturized. As a bonus my hair had a nice sheen to it and smelled pretty good as well :).
Hope this helps someone else out!
FYI: Honey is a natural humectant which means it helps to retain moisture. The oils seal in water on the hair follicle to keep it moisturized as well. And coconut water has been proven to be beneficial to hair when it comes to adding moisture and softness.
